    Reporting to the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Beth Israel Lahey Health, the Senior Vice President, Corporate Finance functions as the senior executive for accounting, payroll, accounts payable, financial planning and analysis, and revenue recognition for BILH and its subsidiaries. The incumbent serves as the Accounting Principal for BILH and its subsidiaries and is responsible for planning, organizing and managing corporate-wide activities related to financial matters including general accounting, revenue recognition, internal and external financial reporting and external audits.

    Job Description:

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Oversee, direct, and organize the system leadership teams responsible for accounting, payroll, AP, FP&A and revenue recognition, including the preparation of Medicare and Medicaid cost reports, appeals and audits.

    • Advise the EVP, Chief Financial Officer and other key members of the executive leadership team on financial planning, budgeting, accounting, accounts payable, payroll, and policy matters. Maintain continuous lines of communication, keeping the EVP, Chief Financial Officer informed of all critical matters.

    • Responsible for all aspects of accounting and related financial statement reporting for BILH and its affiliates, including the month-end close process, reinsurance, and implementation and oversight of accounting policies and procedures, processes, and internal controls necessary for GAAP and statutory accounting.

    • Lead the monthly financial close process to ensure timely and accurate accounting, revenue recognition, and reporting for a range of complex business units and transactions. Identify and implement enhancements to increase the efficiency, speed, and quality of the close.

    • Plan, lead, and execute the annual year-end audit process; including presentation of the final results to the board Audit and Compliance Committee.

    • Oversee the preparation of internal and external financial reporting to ensure they are prepared in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and the accounting process conforms to a reasonable standard of internal control. Represent the organization internally and externally, as necessary, particularly as it relates to accounting, audit and payroll matters.

    • Provides leadership and direction on strategic management of all third party reimbursement from government and commercial payors. Develops KPIs for reimbursement team to measure performance and improvement over time.

    • Supports the EVP, CFO and system executives on mergers, acquisitions, and reorganization efforts. Facilitates the evaluation of future growth opportunities and conducts due diligence to support M&A activities.

    • Responsible for developing and monitoring progress against Annual Operating Plan, reviewing monthly performance and financial results for BILH Shared Service departments and BILH affiliates, and providing ongoing decision support and financial analysis to identify trends and recommend improvement initiatives.

    • Evaluate financial budgeting, decision support, accounting and payroll system applications and lead implementation of new software products with corporate IT.

    • Responsible for hiring, developing and leading and inclusive, engaged, and high performing team. Will establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, and conduct annual performance appraisals.

    • Perform other duties and assignments at the direction of the EVP, Chief Financial Officer.

    Standard Qualifications:

    Education:

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business required.

    • MBA or CPA highly desirable.

    • Healthcare experience is highly desirable.

    Work Experience:

    • Requires a minimum eight to ten years' accounting/ finance experience; within health care institution or with a public accounting firm with extensive experience with health care clients.

    • Experience at a corporate or division level in a high-level leadership role (director or higher) highly required.

    • Accounting, finance planning and analysis, revenue recognition, and analytics experience highly desired.

    Certification, Licensure, Registration:

    • Certified Public Accountability (CPA) license, Certified Management Accountant (CMA) license or documented work experience gained through five or more years leading a healthcare accounting function at the VP, Controller or CFO level required.

    • Capable of leading the charge (sometimes from behind) and thinking "out of the box". Comfortable challenging the status quo while able to work diplomatically to keep stakeholders engaged.

    • Serve as a role model by integrating quality customer service skills, leadership skills and communication skills when interfacing with colleagues.

    • Superb verbal, written, and visual communication skills.

    • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
