  • The Opportunity

    The Technical Product Manager participates in development of multiple year product strategies and agendas. Responsible for building/developing new products, solutions or lines of business as well as the long term management of existing lines of business. Drives and leads diverse, matrix-oriented business teams to deliver products and solutions that are critical to the financial results of the business within budget and time constraints. Shares own expertise and knowledge with the broader team. Works independently and with management to resolve key issues, critical decisions and time constraints on highly visible projects. Coaches and mentors others on own team or within matrixed organization.

    The Team

    The Data Science team within the Enterprise Technology Experience organization builds capabilities around data exploration and visualization, process refinement and evolution, predictive analytics, and advanced statistical analysis. We do this with product based work in small, high caliber teams utilizing cutting edge technologies. The team is a combination of data scientists, data engineers, project managers, and product managers.     The Impact

    Within the Data Science team, the Product Manager builds relationships with business partners to understand their needs and identify where data products stand to address problems and unlock value. This role is primarily responsible for establishing field partnerships, identifying impactful opportunities for the application of data science, specifically Artificial Intelligence (AI), Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Large Language Model (LLM) capabilities, and setting the vision and strategy for implementing these capabilities as two separate data products - an Advisor Virtual Assistant and a Customer Service Representative (CSR) Support Bot. In addition, there will be opportunities for this role to contribute to Data Science products in MassMutual's Post Issue space focusing on operational excellence and efficiency. The individual will scope and lead product delivery; including managing feature definition and prioritization, changes and enhancements, identifying new implementation opportunities and handling incident management and escalation. This involves working with subject matter experts to gain a comprehensive understanding of business priorities and needs, documenting current state processes, developing roadmaps that align to strategic objectives and developing measurable ways to use the LLM-based product(s) and data to drive business decision making. We require analytical minds to craft and analyze key performance indicators to track value and usage to drive development strategy and prioritization. The expectation of the Product Manager includes being comfortable navigating ambiguity, adept at problem solving, effective at communicating, and strong at critical and analytical thinking.

    The Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree (Master's Degree Preferred), preferably in Business/Finance or an analytical field such as Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science

    • 8+ years of product management experience or complex, cross functional, strategic based project experience

    • For this position, candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship

    The Ideal Qualifications

    • Experience in product management of AI based products required

    • Experience building, strategizing, utilizing, or maintaining virtual assistants preferred

    • Experience in working in partnership with a technical role, such as an engineer, developer, data scientist, etc.a plus

    • Experience leading cross functional product/ project teams to execute and achieve success in complex and high value deliverables

    • Outstanding communication skills, including handling executive communication

    • Ability to influence others

    • Experience in working in an agile work environment and with Jira and Confluence preferred

    • Experience building strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including field expert advisors, CSRs, executives, and leaders, to align the AI, NLP and LLM-based products with business objectives and incorporate their valuable insights into the product roadmap

    • Experience developing and driving an innovative product vision for AI, NLP and LLMs, leveraging cutting-edge natural language processing technologies to deliver unparalleled advisor and CSR experience

    • Experience defining product features, specifications, and prioritizing based on voice of the customer, advisor and field feedback, and business objectives

    • Experience identifying and prioritizing strategic opportunities to differentiate MM Data Science AI, NLP and LLM capabilities and keeping it relevant to advisor and CSR needs

    • Experience Leading end-to-end product roadmap - strategizing and development for LLM-based products, from ideation to launch, while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including advisors, operations, field experts, engineering, data science, and design

    • Experience driving the integration of AI, NLP and LLM capabilities across MassMutual's platforms, identifying opportunities to enrich user interactions, improve search and summary results, and enhance overall user satisfaction

    • Experience continuously monitoring, gather feedback and evaluate the performance and impact of the product, iterating and improving to ensure effectiveness and relevance

    Salary Range: $124,800.00-$163,800.00
