    Reporting to the Title IX Coordinator and collaborating closely with campus partners including the Office of Student Affairs, Human Resources, Department of Public Safety and Legal Affairs/Labor Designee, the Title IX Investigator will have a key role in investigating allegations of harassment, bias, workplace violence, and other forms of misconduct reported by students, faculty, or staff. The responsibilities of the role are diverse and range from conducting objective and confidential fact-finding investigations that ensure due process for all parties, including case intake/interviews, providing resource referrals and interim supportive measures to all parties involved in the investigative process.

    In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, the Title IX Investigator duties include but are not limited to:

    • Serving as the primary investigator for cases alleging violation of CUNY's Policy on Sexual Misconduct and CUNY's Equal Opportunity and Non-Discrimination Policy;

    • Investigates and responds to complaints of discrimination, harassment and sexual misconduct and serve as the primary liaison with parties during the investigation process including overseeing operational aspects of all hearings;

    • Collects statements and documentary evidence; maintain accurate and thorough records and notes of the investigatory process and writes comprehensive, detailed, high-quality, unbiased investigative reports;

    • Collaborates with campus offices including Compliance and Diversity, Human Resources, Public Safety, Student Affairs and other College offices involved in responding to reported incidents of sexual misconduct, harassment and discrimination to ensure a consistent and appropriate response to all reported incidents and to assist with interim measures and accommodations;

    • Maintains statistics and data for internal and external reporting purposes, including but not limited to preparing annual reports, both internal and community focused;

    • Maintains current knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies as well as emerging best practices for promoting diversity and inclusion and preventing discrimination and harassment.;

    • Performing other related duties as assigned by the Title IX Coordinator or designee.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Bachelor's degree and six years' related experience required.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Six years' related experience in the area of investigations, student conduct or associated discipline working for an educational institution, compliance/regulatory agency, equal employment opportunity, corporation or nonprofit performing related work preferred.

    • Familiarity with the Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 and its implementing regulation at 34 C.F.R. Part 106 (Title IX) with a background in legal, investigative, or compliance work.

    • Excellent critical thinking skills, including the demonstrated ability to analyze information, evaluate results and facilitate resolution of issues while maintaining strict confidentiality.

    • Excellent communication skills, including ability to write concise, logical analytical reports that address allegations and convey information in a clear, easy to understand way.

    • Ability to listen well demonstrating sensitivity to and respect for individual needs, cultural differences, and best practices for trauma informed interviewing.

    • Experience presenting educational materials to adult learners and developing and presenting educational programs on discrimination, harassment, equal opportunity or related topics.

    • Commitment to completing work in a timely manner and at the highest level of accuracy and quality.

    • Background in legal, investigative, or compliance work.

    • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and student success, or to working with a broadly diverse community.

    • Bi-lingual in Spanish, French, or Arabic - (Spanish speaking preferred)

    CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

    Manages diversity policies, procedures, and initiatives to support CUNY's strong commitment to a diverse and respectful workplace.

    • Oversees the implementation, administration, and communication of diversity programs

    • Collaborates with the college Chief Diversity Officer and campus management to develop and implement programs, prepare plans and reports, perform internal compliance audits, and resolve questions and concerns

    • Prepares and trains on CUNY compliance mandates and relevant city, state, and federal statutes such as Title VII, Title IX (Sexual Harassment Policies), Section 504, and the Americans with Disabilities Act

    • Collects, analyzes, and prepares reports, identifying and presenting findings, patterns and trends, and recommending college policy and procedural changes

    • Performs related duties as assigned.

    Salary: $67,784 - $107,789

    Salary commensurate with education and experience.
