    Job Description

    Pay Rate: $150000 to $170000 Per Year.

    Position Purpose:

    The Production Manager is a key management position reporting directly to the Project Manager. He or she is responsible for managing, supervising and coordinating the operations, maintenance and engineering activities of our contract operations of the Edward C. Little Water Recycling Facility (ECLWRF), its three (3) satellite plants and its influent water pump station. The Production Manager is in charge of implementing the production strategy preliminarily defined with the client organization and regularly updated. He or she ensures that compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements is consistently met.

    The Production Manager must have detailed and comprehensive knowledge of the operations and maintenance of typical water, wastewater, industrial water treatment or food and beverage treatment processes and associated equipment, such as conventional and advanced water and/or wastewater treatment, microfiltration, reverse osmosis, ozone, UV, nitrification, solids handling and all supporting processes.

    The Production Manager ensures proper day to day operations, good cooperation between the teams, adequate staffing, reliable equipment conditions to ensure that the facilities are operated in the most optimum and efficient way, in line with operational objectives and budget targets. He or she plays a pro-active role in the safety program and ensures that all operations, maintenance and engineering staff strictly follow all safety policies and use the required and appropriate PPE.

    The Production Manager ensures growth and development of existing staff, proper onboarding and training of new staff and development of succession plans.

    Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

    The duties of the Production Manager are as follows, but not limited to:

    • Understands and promotes the Company's, the Division's, the Plant's and the Department's mission statement, values, and strategic goals.

    • Planning, organizing, administering, and directing, through subordinate management staff the day to day laboratory and engineering services.

    • Ensuring impeccable safety compliance in the departments under his or her supervision.

    • Ensuring that production targets (quantity, quality) are communicated and delivered.

    • Ensuring proper coordination and alignment of operations, maintenance, process optimization, asset management activities with operational strategies.

    • Planning and directing the overall operations and preventative maintenance and cleaning activities of all the facilities; ensuring the efficient use of staff, utilities, chemicals, and materials in order to meet all standards and regulations mandated by federal, state, and local agencies in the most efficient manner.

    • Providing support and guidance in capital projects, Research & Development projects, plant improvement projects.

    • Ensuring all facilities are maintained at all times in impeccable housekeeping conditions.

    • Coordinating major shutdowns, major R&R projects with client, end-users and critical customers.

    • Overseeing and ensuring the prompt diagnosis of operational issues, the maintaining of operational and compliance records, reports and log sheets and the proper storage thereof.

    • Responding to emergencies, as required, to advise and confer with department managers.

    • Communicating and reporting daily, weekly and monthly on routine activities.

    • Communicating and reporting during out of the ordinary activities.

    • Establishing and maintaining work standards and procedures; regularly inspecting plant facilities; reviewing operating procedures to ensure adherence to operations, maintenance, and safety procedures.

    • Driving and overseeing the updating and revision of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and reviewing existing SOPs on a regular basis.

    • Setting up and maintaining a mentoring system to ensure proper knowledge transfer between staff and departments.

    • Interacting with and coordinating with, all staff and departments of our organization and our client's organization.

    • Representing ECLWRF in meetings with client, governmental and regulatory agencies, private firms, community groups, and the public; maintaining a positive relationship between the team and the client.

    • Performing other related management duties as may be assigned.

    FINANCE

    • Developing and administering the departments' budget; monitoring expenditures to assure compliance with budget appropriations; managing and monitoring the ECLWRF budget.

    • Budgeting and financial management responsibilities shall include: department labor costs, OT, production estimates and follow-up, chemical usage, electrical consumption, solids handling management.

    LEADERSHIP

    • Ensuring effective communication within the department.

    • Communicate to the team the key objectives of the operation.

    • Provide leadership & guidance for the teams to ensure the key objectives of the department are understood and achieved.

    • Support & encourage good teamwork within the department.

    • Manage the team to ensure sufficient cover is maintained for absences such as annual leave / sickness.

    • Ensure that any absences are dealt with promptly and in a professional manner and in line with the company's attendance procedure.

    • Maintain employer-employee relationships that contribute to satisfactory productivity, motivation, and morale.

    • Responsibility for discipline within the department and ensuring that Company rules and regulations are adhered to by the team.

    Qualifications

    Education/Experience/Background:

    • Minimum requirements: the ideal candidate will have graduated from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor of Science degree (Master's degree preferred) in civil engineering, environmental engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering or a directly related field.

    • Minimum of 8 years' related experience managing process operations/production within an industrial process plant environment is required.

    • Proven leadership skills combined with a minimum of 4 years of supervisory/ management experience.

    • Extensive knowledge of hazardous waste treatment industry as well as project management experience.

    • Preference for 9 to 10 years' related experience.

    • Attentiveness to details and ability to manage a diverse workload within a fast-paced environment with changing multiple priorities and frequent interruptions.

    • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team as well as independently with minimal supervision.

    • Proven organizational and creative-problem solving skills.

    • Intermediate level computer skills to operate MS Office Suite (especially Outlook, Excel, and Word).

    • Ability to work on-call and outside of regular business hours as the facility is operational 24/7.

    • Ability to maintain confidentiality to comply with all regulatory requirements and Company Privacy and Confidentiality policies and procedures.

    • Ability to complete all conditions of employment including criminal record check, negative alcohol and drug test, current and clean Class 5 driver's license, pre-employment medical, and background check.

    Required Certification/Licenses/Training:

    • Must have and maintain a valid California drivers license.

    • Minimum of Alberta Boilers Safety Association (ABSA) 3 rd Class Power Engineering Certification is required.

    • In-house training on the quality systems, quality regulations, and safe work practices (including WHMIS).

    • In-house training on corporate policies.

    • Respectful Workplace Training.

    • Leadership and Management Training.

    Physical Requirements:

Challenging conditions normally associated with job (e.g. physical hazards, rotating shifts, shop conditions, and travel as an integral part of the duties performed, etc.) It is assumed that all reasonable and legal Occupational Health & Safety practices are in place and are adhered to. In addition, PPE is to be worn as per company standards and procedures. Refer to the safety section and safe work plan sections of procedures for specific information. Refer to the position's Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) for the correlation or activity, risk, and controls.

    14. Regular trips into production plant, fields and laboratory; may be required to climb ladders, work at heights or in confined spaces, and be exposed to various industrial hazards such as but not limited to noise, fumes, and chemicals and hazardous waste.

    15. May be exposed to PCBs, Compressed/flammable gas, mobile equipment, moving equipment, rotating equipment, slip/trip/fall and electrical hazards.

    16. May be exposed to Hot and Cold working environments.

    17. May be required to wear respirator and/or breathing apparatus while in the plant and/or laboratory.

    18. Despite the relatively low risk of exposure to potential waste contaminants, participation in the SHTC employee health monitoring program is required.

    19. Occasional travel may be required for company meetings.
