    Education / Training:

    Required

    • BS in Business or Engineering.

    Preferred

    • MBA or Master of Engineering degree;

    • PMP certified.

    Key Job Elements:

    • Provides leadership and direction to multi-function teams to develop a given product and controls all functions involved in the product development process;

    • Ensures the NPI program meets all goal requirements for product function and reliability, program

    cost/budget, and customer satisfaction;

    • Leads NPI teams in new model development and introduction plans including establishing performance, quality, cost, and investment targets;

    • Responsibilities of the NPI teams are to establish and achieve target costs, establish and achieve reliability targets, establish and achieve time tables, execute the NPI Requirements Management Process and identify critical customer and business requirements, guide concept selection and the identification and achievement of program requirements and technical specifications, shorten resolution times, achieve supply and manufacturability objectives, assure process conformance, and determine, justify and monitor capital investments;

    • Ensures all technical, cost, marketing, manufacturing, materials, and test & evaluation problems are addressed and solved;

    • Investigates alternatives and solutions and assigns appropriate resources to execute resolution plans;

    • Ensures the development and training of team members;

    • Communicates and coordinates activities with other NPI teams and marketing companies;

    • Actively participates in all decisions for NPI concept, design, build & test, release, and production;

    • Overcome challenge of gaining consensus from a variety of disciplines on appropriate development plans and activities to meet NPI program requirements.

    Typical internal customers include various contacts throughout Progress Rail worldwide and its subsidiaries. External contacts include various customers and vendors throughout worldwide markets. The position faces complex issues that may differ from those typically faced within the industry or profession. The incumbent monitors general policies and guidelines for projects under his/her control to ensure specific, management goals are met, and desired results are achieved. Impacts key quality goals including Customer Satisfaction, Continuous Improvement, Timeliness, Accuracy, Efficiency, Cost Savings, Process Quality, Compliance with tax laws, etc. The position monitors and reports on key quality metrics for the measure(s) stated.

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible job-related experience on capital intensive, highly engineered, long life cycle product line;

    • Minimum of three years of Project Management experience;

    • Requires strong commercial, business, engineering, and manufacturing skills, along with an understanding of product test & development, materials, accounting, and pricing functions;

    • Must have excellent problem-solving skills and good leadership & team management capabilities;

    • Requires strong written and verbal communications skills;

    • Moderate travel required (5% - 15% of working time).

    Essential and Physical Activities Functions

    • Strength - Position typically involves office managerial work as well as oversight in an industrial environment. Frequent standing, sitting, and walking. Occasional light to medium-level lifting (up to 30 pounds);

    • Motion - Position regularly requires standard motions associated with an office environment as well as standard motions associated with leading and demonstrating in an industrial environment;

    • Vision/Hearing Requirements - Constant verbal communications, including both talking and hearing;

    • Work Environment - Position will occasionally require the use of Personal Protective Equipment. Position may involve work in a non-temperature-controlled environment. Position is located in an industrial environment, including occasional exposure to noise (85+ decibels), occasional exposure to temperature changes, and other hazardous working conditions;

    • Emotional Demands - Very high level of responsibility. Must be able to coordinate diverse aspects of a project. Requires significant interpersonal skills while sustaining very high standards;

    • Safety - Position will occasionally require the use of Personal Protective Equipment.
