  • We are seeking a highly experienced Leader and Client Service professional to join our VCA leadership team as the Manager of VCA Continental Boarding and Pet Resort.

    The role demands a leader with the interpersonal and organizational skills to continue achieving our goals of delivering excellent care and customer service to both our clients and guests.

    VCA Continental Boarding is a premier pet boarding and doggy day-care service in the Charlotte, NC area. Our guests are pampered and treated as they would at home with the added fun of playing on beautiful all grass multi-acre areas. Our canine guests can chase after tennis balls, catch flying frisbees, or dig in our all natural grass areas to their hearts content. At the end of the day they relax on their comfortable dog bed in their indoor/outdoor run. Our feline guests get to watch the daily excitement from their own cat condominium and snuggle in their beds for regular naps. No closed-in, tiny indoor only rooms for our guests! We guarantee that every guest will always go home happy and in great health.

    The successful candidate will have experience in Human Resource and personnel management, Marketing, and Business development. Your strong financial and operational acumen will be put to good use!

    The Pet Resort Manager-under the guidance of the Regional Management support team-performs a wide range of administrative and leadership activities related to the boarding facility. This includes: mentoring the staff and overseeing the business operations and maintenance of the facility; ensuring the growth and profitability of the business; and supporting the VCA Continental's mission of delivering high quality care and exceptional client service.

    Skills and Qualifications

    • 2 to 3 years of customer service and financial budget management experience.

    • Knowledge of sales and marketing techniques.

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially to a diverse range of audiences and settings.

    • The ability to make decisions, delegate responsibility and achieve results with team members.

    • Professional comportment and appearance, with excellent interpersonal skills and a friendly, positive attitude.

    • Respect for and willingness to work with clients and their pets.

    • Must be able to handle multiple tasks and deal with an environment of changing priorities.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Direct and develop the staff towards the goal of quality animal care and excellent client service; assist in the formulation of objectives and policies to ensure efficient and profitable business operations.

    • Oversee the hiring, reviewing, disciplining and terminating of professional staff, in accordance with and with the approval of the Regional Management team.

    • Review the P&L Report monthly and take appropriate measures to increase revenue and limit expenses; work with VCA support office and Regional Management team to prepare and submit the yearly budget (budget forecast, operating plan, cap-ex expenditures) and participate in the evaluation process with Regional Management team.

    • Model an "owner" mentality for VCA Continental Boarding and Pet Resort by demonstrating a willingness to assist all employees in providing care to our guests, demonstrating superior client service and making the business a continued success; invest the necessary amount of time to accomplish the required responsibilities and ensure the smooth operation of the day to day business.

    • Handle customer complaints in a professional manner and provide appropriate solutions to the client with the support of the Regional Management team; follow up to ensure resolution.

    • Keep records of customer interactions and maintain customer accounts following established protocols. Follow communication procedures, guidelines and policies.

    • Take the extra mile to engage customers.

    • Positively represent VCA Continental Boarding and Pet Resort in the community.
